In cooperation with the Avansplus laboratory school (www.avansplus.nl) we organise a basic course in x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy twice a year for analysts who need to know more about the basic principles and/or about procedures in x-ray fluorescence spectrometry. The language of the course is dutch. The course is a continuation of the renowned VOVOL course as given in the past by G. Warmenhoven. During the course we will elaborate some examples on a Philips PW2400 spectrometer at the premises of Philips lighting in Eindhoven. The course covers the following topics:
-
Principles of x-ray fluorescence
-
Generation and properties of x-rays
-
Resolution
-
Detectors
-
Pulse height discrimination
-
Qualitative analysis and interpretation of x-ray spectra
-
Quantitative analysis, calibration
-
Matrix effects
-
Detection limits
